The Blazers 13 Blue team came into the KCKCC volleyball tournament untested as they had not played during the 2012 season. Their season had consisted, until that point, of practices designed to ensure that the team was “ready, as well as willing and able,” according to Coach Henry Service.   

The Blazers dominated pool play, finishing undefeated in impressive wins over all of their opponents.  They beat a very game Topeka Saints, the South KC Juniors, and a boisterous Southside Swarm team, advancing to tournament play as the number one seed. 

The Blazers showed heart and character putting together nerve-racking wins in bracket play, first against the lowly seeded but scrappy South KC Juniors and finally against the rejuvenated Topeka Saints.

The girls played hard all day, especially during the championship game when the girls kept their focus and defeated the Topeka Saints who forced a tie breaking final game to 15. 

The Blazers 13 Blue team starts their season as tournament champions and ranked in the top 10.
